Unedited Architecture / THE LOVER
Karel Verhoeven & Yannick Franck - Unedited Architecture
In 2013 the Ghent artist Karel Verhoeven stayed on the volcanic island of Lanzarote (Spain), at the invitation of the Fundacion César Manrique, named after the architect who developed a utopian architectural vision for the island in the 1970s. Manrique’s white, organic buildings stand in stark contrast to the deep black volcanic texture of the earth. Verhoeven captured the formal qualities of this environment in an associative visual montage. Sound artist Yannick Franck processed the audio material recorded on site. Together they present this environment in an audiovisual live concert.
Bára Sigfúsdóttir & Noémie Goudal -THE LOVER
During Performatik, the Beursschouwburg will present the new solo by the Icelandic dancer Bára Sigfúsdóttir (she completed her studies at P.A.R.T.S. in 2011), who is here collaborating with the French visual artist Noémie Goudal and the Icelandic musician Borko.
THE LOVER is a poetic performance about the complex relationship between man and nature. A lonely, vulnerable woman wanders in a barren, desolate landscape. She is driven on by her survival instinct and her curiosity about the transformative surroundings.
• Bára Sigfúsdóttir made her debut with the solo On the other side of a sand dune. In THE LOVER, Bára’s dancing body comes together with Noémie Goudal’s photographic installation. An encounter between Sigfúsdóttir’s very special language of movement and the work of Goudal, who combines illusion, stage design and photography to create surreal landscapes.
