A cartoonlike body
"How can I digest the many influences and traces that shaped me as a person and artist? How can my body unfold quantum genealogies and unrealized histories?"
In her first full-length solo, Hunter, choreographer Meg Stuart explores her own body as a living archive, populated by personal and cultural memories, ancestors and artistic heroes, fantasies and invisible forces. She discovers microscopic traces lingering around her body and translates them into a series of self-portraits. Experiences are cut up and spliced together on the editing table and reveal potential connections such as a cartoonlike body, a shamanist ritual, or a noisy sound sculpture. Different moods reverberate through different media and their echoes resonate in a shared world.
Hunter premiered in Berlin at the end of March and was performed at the 2014 Venice Biennale.
