Primes
Music as a sacred science
In his recent work, the Milanese Riccardo Nova (1960) has developed his own sound where traditional music, contemporary music and experimental noise meet. His compositions sound as psychedelic as those of his old friend Fausto Romutelli (1963-2004) and are permeated with electronic anamorphoses. They integrate the esoteric element of the classical music of Southern India: a great rhythmic virtuosity based on a sacred science of numbers. The title of this new full-length performance, Primes, also refers to this.
On stage there are three Indian musicians (a violinist and two percussionists, including B.C. Manjunath, master of the mrigandam), and five Ictus musicians whose instruments are duplicated using MIDI-relays and loop machines.
