The Cooking of Pasta for Tired Dancers

The American composer and pioneer in experimental music Alvin Lucier (1931) was a long-term collaborator with John Cage and is one of the most prominent figures in American music.

Space, speech and time are the basic ingredients of his musical performance I am sitting in a room (1970), a composition for a room (‘every room has its own melody’, says Lucier), a voice and a tape recorder, whose first Belgian performance he will be giving at the Kaaitheater.

The sequel to this performance will take place in the Kaaitheaterstudio’s, where Lucier will perform Nothing is Real (Strawberry Fields Forever), a composition for piano, amplified teapot and tape recorder. Afterwards, Lucier will be joined by Berno Odo Polzer for an ‘aftertalk’ at the stove while cooking the pasta that gave the title to this project.
