Test, raak aan, luister, ruik
Wie onlangs een voorstelling van Kate McIntosh zag, was op veel manieren betrokken. Sommigen sloopten of demonteerden huis-en-tuinobjecten om iets nieuws te creëren (Worktable). Anderen onderzochten types van collectiviteit door meubels over de scène te smijten, door samen een orkest van regenmakers op te richten, of door eigen bacterieën te verzamelen (All Ears). Kate McIntosh blijft nieuwsgierig naar het betrekken van toeschouwers, die zo hun eigen motivaties én die van de groep verkennen.
Met In Many Hands duikt McIntosh het tactiele en multisensorische in. Ze nodigt je uit te testen, aan te raken, te luisteren en te ruiken. Ze keert het podium de rug toe en kiest voor een reeks zintuiglijke ‘situaties’ waar je voluit mag experimenteren. In Many Hands is deels laboratorium, deels kunstbeurs, deels sensotopia: neem je tijd om te verkennen en volg je neus!
• Kate McIntosh overstijgt telkens de grenzen van performance, theater en installatie. Ze is sinds dit seizoen artist-in-residence in het Kaaitheater. Eerder bracht ze hier o.a. Untried Untested, Dark Matter en Hair from the Throat.
