Danser-choreograaf Jonathan Burrows en componist-muzikant Matteo Fargion beschrijven hun werk als ‘met de hand gemaakt’ en ‘op mensenmaat’. Ze bouwen hun voorstellingen op met simpele, onspectaculaire elementen. Het resultaat is bedrieglijk eenvoudig maar virtuoos en verrukkelijk. Het zet je op een prettige manier aan het denken.

In de voorbije tien jaar hebben Burrows en Fargion een reeks duetten gecreëerd waarin zij het formele van een muziekcompositie combineren met een radicale en open benadering van de voorstelling en de toeschouwer. In Counting To One Hundred, dat we in het voorbije seizoen al toonden, en in het nieuwe One Flute Note gaan zij verder in dialoog met de structuur van John Cages Lecture On Nothing. Ze brengen een hommage aan een manier van denken die aan de basis ligt van veel dans en performance van de jongste dertig jaar en stellen die tegelijk in vraag.
