The Making of Berlin is the final part of BERLIN's cycle of cities. With live music on stage - and Opera Ballet Vlaanderen’s orchestra on film - BERLIN takes on an exceptional story in documentary style. The performance focuses on an unfinished chapter in the life of an old Berliner - with Wagner's Götterdämmerung in a crucial role and Klara manager and Pompidou inspiration Chantal Pattyn in a supporting role.

It is 2070, 100 years after the first government reform. Belgium no longer exists and Flanders has become independent after four years of war. In the midst of all this, the last butcher in town and his disabled son try to survive.

The companies were inspired by Goethe's novel Die Wahlverwandtschaften, set up as an amorous experiment in the style of Temptation Island. Do the characters fall prey to their passions and drives, the so-called laws of nature? Or does reason prevail? Even then, the ending was catastrophic.
