HET SCRIPT
Six actors on the stage and only one solo. This is the simple premise of The Script, the recent collaboration between the Brussels-based company Tristero and their Dutch counterparts Kassys. There are no leading or secondary roles, but six simultaneous interpretations of the same script. How strictly will each actor comply with the stage directions? Will they allow one another a place in the spotlight? Will they selfishly ham it up or will they help and support each other?
The Script is not only about how actors relate to one another on the stage and individual differences in interpretations of the same text, but simultaneously focuses on the existential loneliness that you sometimes feel in a group. How is it possible to be so similar and yet live ‘side by side’?
• Tristero and Kassys share a fascination for the painful, charming, and intelligent attempts through which people as individuals try to survive in society. Their productions are unique for their detailed visual language, nuanced performances, deadpan humour, and the inevitable identification of the audience.
