La Fracture (work in progress)

performance
09.07.2021

"Dad, do you know what the similarities are between Algeria and alcohol? I found three: shame, taboo and silence..."

In her solo and first theatre performance La Fracture, Yasmine Yahiatene shares the stage with video material. The performance is an investigation, a search for herself, for her past and above all for a decipherment of a complex and intimate relationship – the relationship with her father. While trying to re-establish contact with him through various media, she returns to her Algerian and Kabyle roots, to her father's alcoholism and to the overlaps between these two subjects. It is the beginning of a work of recovery, of resilience.

• Yasmine Yahiatene studied Fine Arts in Tournai from 2010 to 2013. Breaking down boundaries between her artistic and social thinking is for her a priority. In 2015, she released her first short film Les maux qui volent and a little later the video mapping installations Ma mère, aussi (2016) and J'avais 10 ans (2016). For the latter project, she won second prize at the Video Mapping Contest in Lille, which landed it on the programme of several festivals and allowed Yahiatene to make a name for herself in the professional environment of the visual arts. At the same time, in 2017, she starred in Philippe Lion's feature film Plein la vue and in several short films. Since 2017, she has also been working at compagnie ZA! With her Collectif OXO (since 2018) she gives workshops in prisons and community centres

PAY WHAT YOU CAN
