Burning Ice #3

Festival

Officially, we still live in the Holocene epoch, but there are increasing numbers of people who say that we should introduce a new era which would be known as the anthropocene: an era in which the impact of human behaviour is so great that it is subordinating all other life on Earth. Humanism has always taught us that man differs from other animals because he can take his destiny into his own hands. But should we continue dreaming of man as a wise steward of the planet? Which view of mankind are we to take as the point of departure for the transition to a sustainable society?

This third Burning Ice will once again be bringing artists, academics and cultural theorists together and will be built around the production Koyaanisqatsi – the performance by the Brazilian theatre-maker Ricky Seabra and the Brussels-based director Dirk Verstockt.
