Be the Rhythm [5+]

dance
11.07.2021

Be the Rhythm is an interactive family-friendly show that encourages connection and artistic expression through music and dance. It highlights Stepping, a highly energetic African American form of body percussion, as a rich art form that inspires creativity, confidence and strength by clapping your hands, stomping your feet and raising your voice. By uncovering the strong influence of children’s hand games and hip hop within the history of Stepping, we discover the instinctual rhythm within all of us and celebrate the importance of connecting through movement and sound.

• Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Briana Ashley Stuart is a thriving multi-disciplinary international performing artist, teacher, and choreographer, whose interests are in researching how the history and culture of art forms directly relate to the human condition and sense of expression. With her collective, she creates work that brings energy, interaction and cultural knowledge to audiences of all ages.

made possible with the support of Citylab Pianofabriek, Destelheide, VGC, Kunstencentrum BUDA & STU Arts | the cast includes Briana Ashley Stuart, Mélanie De Poorter, Rémy Mpuki, & Yolien De Pue

pay what you can
