Moddertong

theatre
18—18.11.2023

Moddertong is a kaleidoscopic narrative that evokes the everyday life of a community of an unspecified time and place. The sun, plants and animals, people and all things man-made, all of it connected using magic. Gradually, a tragicomedy unfolds in which countless creatures simultaneously support and thwart each other.

Using a descriptive rather than moralising narrative, the big issues of our time emerge in the form of practical problems and challenges. Issues like Climate change, degrowth, gender. As a matter of course, but not without friction, they form part of this social utopia.

It took Sébastien Hendrickx several years to develop his performance and it relates to the concepts of 'mother', 'language' and 'earth'. Driven by state-of-the art research and constantly changing circumstances, Moddertong changes continuously.
