AfroLit

23.03—11.04.2021

This year, the Passa Porta Festival presents an adapted online formula. The festival lasts eight days and the entire programme will be available for online rewatching until 5 April. Kaaitheater is delighted to offer one of the festival's stages!

AfroLit is the title of a recent anthology of modern literature from the African diaspora in Belgium and the Netherlands, compiled by Dalilla Hermans and Ebissé Rouw. The anthology inspired the Passa Porta Festival and Kaaitheater to compile a full evening programme, highlighting the vitality of Dutch Afro-literature. Writer and dramatist Carolina Maciel de França takes you in tow with a selection of authors from the African diaspora in Belgium. Present, live, via text or image, are journalist and writer Hasna Ankal, theatre maker and community worker Nyiragasigwa Hens, writer, designer and hip-hop futurist Malique Mohamud, poet Bertrand Avery Iradukunda, writer and opinion maker Tracy Bibo Tansia, slam poets Lisette Ma Neza, Sesa and filmmaker Ammen S. Ogendengbe. The setting for these lectures, performances and reading sessions is our main hall.
