"19"

performance
10.07.2021

“19” is a multidisciplinary performance that tackles themes such as survival, passing, marginalisation, money, age and identity. The performance focuses on different concepts such as norms, gender, body, social status and privilege. “19” seeks to challenge the perception of these themes and concepts through the narrative.

"Through the scenes, I want to tell what it means to be someone like me and to be 19 years old in this day and age: with the beautiful, complicated, strong, exhausting and satisfying things it represents. I think I need to do what I do in this performance, to focus on my present, on my expectations, on the future I see, and to continue my personal and artistic path. As the themes I deal with are still seen as sensitive and I want to avoid exposing myself to violence, layers of imagination and distance are built into the performance. I think I feel ready and comfortable to show my work to the public." - ALEX

pay what you can
