Monumental

performance
15—17.03.2019

Originally, Monumental was a film about monuments, statues and memorials in public spaces. Jocelyn Cottencin brought these monuments to life with twelve performers, transforming the rigid forms of sculpture into a story. Cottencin is now handing the performance on to a group of students from the ULB and La Cambre. How do you represent performance and time in the immovable space of collective memory?

• After studying art and architecture, Jocelyn Cottencin continued working with the so-called applied arts, such as design, architecture, and graphics. He is particularly interested in the issue of emitting and receiving images, codes and languages. He lives and works in Rennes.

Screening: 'Faire Feu'

Jocelyn Cottencin's film Faire Feu shows young student artists through different situations. 50 years after May '68, the film paints a group that is in no way representative of an era, but quite the opposite. They appear to resist the models that contemporary society proposes or even imposes.
