The moon is the moon is the moon

dance
27—28.04.2018

Breaking open a choreography

The moon is the moon is the moon deconstructs the structure of a dance trio and exposes its building blocks. Just like the preparatory sketches for a painting, the performance begins with various perspectives and movements. The individual layers that you discover in the choreography invite you to see things in new ways. Dance is expressed as a ritual that inherently consists in the building up and erasing of movement. Just like Tibetan monks spend weeks working on sand mandalas only to wipe them away again, three dancers construct their movements and then erase them. What remains is the communal experience of the dancers and the audience.

• Anneleen Keppens studied at the Antwerp Royal Ballet School and at PARTS. Her work seeks to balance pure, abstract dance on the one hand and interpretation and transparency on the other. She has danced for Daniel Linehan, Xavier Le Roy and Rosas, among others. The moon is the moon is the moon marks her debut as a choreographer.
