unannounced
An illusion of darkness
A sudden and uannounced event can change the colour of whatever went before. unannounced – a performance for six dancers – plays with the way your focus shifts when a sudden apparition suddenly changes your perspective. The creators zoom in on the deep dark shades of the black box to look beyond the surface of the here and now. The anticipation of what is to come echoes the afterglow of the past.
In previous performances, Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki have explored the concepts of space and the object. They interpret space as fluid and objects as fragments of space. In unannounced, the focus is on time. Today, we no longer experience time as linear or cyclical, but as something increasingly fragmented, which moves in different directions simultaneously. Avdal and Shinozaki develop a non-linear series of images, which both embody and question this fragmented notion of time.
• Field Works is the name of the performances with which Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki (formerly deepblue) have carved out a place for themselves on the international scene. By means of small shifts in the daily routine, they create a dreamlike, absurd world. They presented nothing’s for something (2012) and distant voices (2015) at Kaaitheater.
