Sound choreography
For his new performance, the choreographer Benjamin Vandewalle enters into a collaboration with the composer and musician Yoann Durant. The audience is blindfolded and spread out across the space. Sounds move around and in between them. You are immersed in a physical soundscape that explores the visual power of sound.
Hear is a sound choreography that uses the voice as a moving body. A visual composition of noises and sounds challenges your senses. Vandewalle and Durant always work with a choir of performers from the city in which they are performing: every performance becomes an audio drama with a unique, local voice.
• Benjamin Vandewalle (ex-PARTS) will be artist-in-residence at Kaaitheater from 2017. Playing with observation and perception is a common thread running through his work. He previously staged the installation performances Birdwatching and One/Zero at Kaaistudios. During Festival Kanal, he went into Molenbeek with Birdwatching 4x4 and Inter-view.
