Midday and Eternity (the time piece)

dance
09—10.12.2014

Three white, ephemeral figures

Last season, with Midday and Eternity (the time piece) Eleanor Bauer created the final part of her dance trilogy, which explores dance as ‘a synthesis of experiences’. She views each part from a different perspective. Science and politics inspired the first two performances, A Dance for the Newest Age (the triangle piece) and Tentative Assembly (the tent piece). In Midday and Eternity (the time piece) Bauer starts out from spirituality: dance as the driving and unifying force between the singular and the universal. The dancers – three ephemeral white figures – no longer play a central role but almost dissolve into the wider whole of their surroundings and the future in the form of an eternal repetition.

• The American dancer and choreographer Eleanor Bauer is one of four artists-in-residence at the Kaaitheater. She has danced in productions by Rosas, Xavier Le Roy and others. Apart from this, we have also shown her choreographic work. This season she will once again appear as the exuberant hostess in her BAUER HOURS.

‘A meditative work such as one rarely encounters.’ **** – De Morgen newspaper
