Objecthood
Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki are known for their performances in unexpected locations such as office buildings, hotels, supermarkets and so on. There they ‘infiltrate’ the ordinary course of business with discrete but unsettling performances that are flavoured with touches of humour and poetry.
In distant voices they continue to explore space and how it affects our bodies and our perceptions. What happens if an architectural space exceeds its boundaries? If a situation breaks out of its spatial limitations? Avdal and Shinozaki play with the idea of materializing space. Here they make use of a structure of moveable objects, a modular, transformable sculpture. The spectator goes on a journey in his imagination and is perfectly prepared to encounter a certain ‘objecthood’.
