Space Travelling + Tuning To Spheres
performance
talk
28.02.2011
Science and wine glasses
The lecture performance by Agnes Meyer-Brandis deals with art, science and weightlessness. The starting point is an artistic project that Agnes Meyer-Brandis conducted under weightless conditions, entitled Cloud-Core-Scanner. The experiment involved a microgravity-generating flying manoeuvre that is usually restricted to scientific work and was carried out in collaboration with the DLR (German Aerospace Centre). Meyer-Brandis explores the boundaries separating fact and fiction, fantasy and technology.
Dawn Scarfe’s Turning to Spheres is a performance with wine glasses, a sine-tone generator and small speakers. She uses simple tools and methods to heighten our sensitive experience.
