O Oui
Attention: production cancelled!
‘I propose that we take the familiar idiom a step further, give ourselves up to our senses, and find a new way to say "I love you".' In this new work, Benoit Lachambre tries to give us a different view of ourselves, our body and our language, one that is more natural, more organic and more intuitive. This is done using video – between dream and reality, music by the well-known New York composer Hahn Rowe, a male solo dance and two female dancers/actresses in a possible symbiosis. The production will premiere at the ImPulsTanz festival in Vienna this summer.
• For fifteen years now the Canadian choreographer, dancer and teacher Benoît Lachambre has been working on a dance practice associated with the recovery of physical and psychological connections. In 2006, together with Meg Stuart, he created FORGERIES, LOVE AND OTHER MATTERS, and received a Bessie Award for his performance in it. Meg Stuart will also be collaborating in O Oui. In 2006 Lachambre staged one of his own productions, lugares comunes, in the Kaaitheater for the Kunstenfestival. A year later we presented the beautiful solo he created for the dancer Louise Lecavalier, ‘I’ Is Memory.
‘Meg Stuart , Benoît Lachambre et Hahn Rohn offrent un pièce différente de tout autre et une impression unique de la société. Cet événement obtiendra un statut de culte certainement parmi celles qui ont du nerf.’ – Les inrockuptibles - festival d’Avignon 2004 on FORGERIES, LOVE AND OTHER MATTERS
