Tom & Bess O'Bedlam
Tom and Bess O’Bedlam are two archetypical lunatics from England. Their madness inspired poets, musicians, painters and dramatists. These two archetypes accompany us on a trip through English culture. The show focuses on the English Renaissance, a period when composers used their new musical idiom to convey an astonishing repertoire of ‘madness arias’. The counter-tenor Xavier Sabata, dancer Igor Shyshko and an actor express the unnatural extravagance of the patients of Bedlam. The director Sybille Wilson and choreographer Arco Renz immerse the audience in a world of creative insanity.
