Directory 3: Tattoo
In the 2006 yearbook published by the German Ballettanz magazine, Pieter T’Jonck proclaimed the ‘artistic twins’ Kattrin Deufert and Thomas Plischke to be ‘currently the most politically important European dance artists’ because they consistently go against the flow of ‘politically correct’ dance. According to T’Jonck, Directory 3: Tattoo is a brilliant study of the link between movement (choreo-) and writing (-graphy). The movement material arose out of a translation by each dancer of memories written down by the other. This yielded a captivating miniature portrait of the diversity of the world, drawn by five dancers and a musician. An exceptional performance!

East of Brussels Où commence l’Est ? Dans les Cantons de l’Est ? En Allemagne ? Pour les Allemands, il commence en Pologne. Pour les Polonais, il commence en Russie. Et pour les Moscovites, est-ce au Kazakhstan ? Personne n’habite à l’Est, l’Est, c’est toujours où vivent les autres. À nos yeux, quel est le point commun entre tous ces lieux situés à l’Est ? Le fait qu’ils soient étrangers ? Étrangers et inconnus ? L’idée d’East of Brussels est d’aller chercher cet inconnu – mais pas moins captivant pour autant – et de le faire venir à Bruxelles au moyen d’un certain nombre de spectacles. Les montrer pour avoir été créés « à l’Est », mais surtout parce qu’ils sont bons et qu’ils ont une approche singulière de l’histoire (ART&SHOCK), de l’architecture (Deufert+Plischke), de la tradition (Les SlovaKs, Eszter Salamon) et du vide qu’entraîne tout bouleversement (Gabia). |
