In just a few years Hiroaki Umeda has become one of Japan’s most promising young dancer-choreographers. Borrowing both from hip-hop and butoh, his singular body movements alternate between fluidity and jerkiness. A master of movement, Umeda is also responsible for the sound and visual creations in his pieces. Accumulation Layout and While going to a condition are two experiences of space and sensory perception in which the performer emits an exceptional magnetic force.
