Lugares comunes
In his work, the Canadian dancer and choreographer Benoît Lachambre, known for his collaboration with Meg Stuart and others, mainly explores the dynamics of communication and sensory perception. His new work is entitled Lugares comunes. This means something like ‘common places’ or ‘shared spaces’ and refers to the invisible point of contact between people and between man and his environment. It is about those moments when the one and the other, dancers and audience, stage and auditorium, inside and outside, suddenly come together. Lachambre sees the dancer as the perfect example of a sublime union of individual and environment. He puts nine dancers on stage. Together they question the dividing line of the traditional theatre space, looking for the twilight zone where the dancer and spectator encounter one another. Lugares comunes will be as frivolous as a musical and as futuristic and utopian as science fiction.
