Raven is van alle tijden: mensen hebben altijd al collectief intens gedanst. Lisa Vereertbrugghen gaat op zoek naar precies dat tijdloze verlangen om samen hard te dansen. Ze nodigde Claire Godsmark, Dolores Hulan, Eimi Legget en Castélie Yalombo Lilonge uit voor een parallel beoefenen van hardcore rave én volksdans. Zonder nostalgie noch met een vastgelegd toekomstbeeld, brengen ze samen een hybride techno-folk die alle controle verstoort en collectieve lichamelijkheid viert. 

When dancing hardcore, I don’t practice hardness. For me ‘going hardcore’ is going towards virtual touch, opening up the body to be moved intensely. It shows how machines—sound machines in this case—are able to make bodies feel more.³ Distorted bass pierces the gut and synths caress the upper skin layers through an interplay of technology and body, a posthuman kinship that is deliberately not productive. Hardcore heightens the ability to affect and be affected; it grinds the body soft. I propose that hardcore techno is therefore softcore, softcore dance, softcore choreography. • De in Brussel wonende Lisa Vereertbrugghen (1986) is danser, choreograaf en onderzoeker. Sinds 2014 doet ze onderzoek naar hardcore techno-dansstijlen in verschillende vormen: voorstellingen, lecture-performances, performance-installaties en publicaties. Ze behaalde een master in Culturele Studies aan de KU Leuven en studeerde Choreografie aan de School voor Nieuwe Dansontwikkeling in Amsterdam. Ze werkt vaak samen met Michael Langeder, Sophie Guisset, Vera Martins en Madison Bycroft en werkt ook als dramaturg, performer en choreografe voor verschillende performance- en visuele artiesten tussen Brussel, Berlijn en Amsterdam. Daarnaast geeft ze les aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Brussel.  Haar meest recente performances zijn Softcore, a hardcore encounter (2018), en DISQUIET - sensational aesthetics of a technokin (2021).
