The Ballad of Ricky and Ronny - a pop opera
Maison Dahl Bonnema consists of Hans Petter Dahl and Anna Sophia Bonnema. In 1995 they started working together and founded Love & Orgasm (L&O). Working as a duo or in collaboration with other artists, they created about a dozen performances that combined music, art, literature and theatre. L&O Amsterdam has appeared before at Kaaitheater together with the dance dramaturge and performer Robert Steijn in Not the Real Thing, a performance that combines spoken theatre and performance art, and allows the audience to feel how real a world can be that only exists in your mind; what effect does the imagination have? In addition to this, Dahl and Bonnema have collaborated on productions by Jan Lauwers and Needcompany since 1999.
In 2003 they started Maison Dahl Bonnema as ‘a virtual concept house that launches new collections of ideas in the form of clothing, music, video and text’. Their productions are characterised by the fact that they do everything themselves, composing, writing, design and acting. The Ballad of Ricky and Ronny is a new project they develop under the wing of Needcompany. Maison Dahl Bonnema is embarking on new terrain… mini-opera!
