Book Burning

theatre
14.12.2016

Do we simply keep on smouldering?

"After a hundred performances of Book Burning, you feel inclined to ask the question: has anything changed? Are our worldly belongings still there as they are supposed to be, or have some things been opened up for discussion? Is there a difference between the Nuits Debout and the Occupy movement? Are the Panama Papers whistle-blowers now in a better position than the WikiLeaks pioneers? Have the slumbering fires of resistance been rekindled since then or blown out? Do we simply keep on smouldering? Have we run out of options? From the perspective of quantum physics, can a difference actually be established between a dead cat and a living cat? And is the space offered by this perspective finally being utilised to the full?

Or is it time for us to get started on the next 100 performances?"
