Sacre #197
dance
20.11.2013
A 197th version
Many choreographic works have been created to the music of Stravinsky, but very little of Vaslav Nijinsky’s original choreography has been preserved. The French choreographer Dominique Brun, a specialist in combining contemporary dance with historical dance research, starts out from this contradiction to create a possible 197th version of the Sacre. Her dancers set to work with fourteen drawings that Valentine Gross-Hugo made of the last part of the ballet and which were found having been lost. Moreover, composer Juan Pablo Carreño allows us to rediscover Stravinsky’s music by writing a new composition for mezzo soprano.
