Big Bang
Philippe Quesne – onthou die naam! Op korte tijd is hij uitgegroeid tot een van de favorieten in het internationale theater. Dat heeft te maken met het erg visuele karakter van zijn werk, maar ook met de humor waarmee hij onze soort portretteert. We presenteren twee producties op één week tijd: Big Bang en L'Effet de Serge. Twee data om aan te kruisen in uw agenda.
Philippe Quesne bracht als kind uren door voor zijn vivarium (terrarium) en dat heeft sporen nagelaten in de voorstellingen die hij maakt. Daarin observeert hij de mens in zijn grootsheid én zijn knulligheid, tegen de achtergrond van een appartementje (L’Effet de Serge), een leeg landschap (La Mélancolie des dragons) of de kosmos (Big Bang), maakt niet uit. Big Bang is een opeenvolging van tableaus waarin een groepje individuen zijn eigen evolutietheorie geeft. Een beeldend epos, poëtisch en fantasierijk.
Big Bang is de recentste productie van Philippe Quesne en zijn Vivarium Studio. Ze was in 2010 te zien op het festival van Avignon. Stevent de mensheid af op een ecologische Apocalyps? ‘Dat zo’n destructief einde niet de enige uitkomst hoeft te zijn, toont het magistraal banale labotheater van de Franse kunstenaar Philippe Quesne’, aldus Wouter Hillaert in rekto:verso.
