Tweelingbroers
Voor hun nieuwste voorstelling baseert Forced Entertainment zich op de alom geprezen roman Het dikke schrift van de Hongaarse schrijfster Ágota Kristóf. Die vertelt het verhaal van een tweeling die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog wordt ondergebracht bij hun grootmoeder, in een vervallen boerderij op het Hongaarse platteland. De broers – naamloze vertellers in de roman – leven er als outsiders. Ze houden zich staande dankzij hun nietsontziende overlevingstactieken. Gaandeweg onthullen de twee zich als moralisten in een Centraal-Europa dat wegglijdt in verderf, wreedheid en opportunisme.
Forced Entertainment gebruikt de bondige, brutale zinnen van Kristóf als bouwstenen voor een beklemmende voorstelling. Op de scène staan twee performers, zij aan zij. Verstrengeld in één stem en één gedeeld perspectief vertellen ze een fascinerend verhaal, met naïeve logica en duistere humor uit barre oorlogstijden.

• Forced Entertainment viert dit jaar zijn dertigste verjaardag. Aangevoerd door regisseur Tim Etchells werpen deze theatermakers zich sinds 1984 op als pioniers van het Britse avant-gardetheater en bouwden ze een stevige internationale reputatie op.
