Klapping initiation
Une nouvelle danse de rue avec des racines dans le football.
Klapping est un pèlerinage nocturne vers un terrain exclu, un rituel de danse activé par du mouvement, des maillots de foot, des feux d’artifice et du folklore.
Klapping se déroule sur un terrain cimenté à Bruxelles pour en extraire les racines de la culture et des mouvements du football et les réadapter au style des cultures contemporaines de danses urbaines – comme le B-boying et le Krumping. Le résultat donne lieu à une nouvelle sorte de streetdance. Il s’agit d’une rencontre formidable entre groupes improbables et d’une expérience surréaliste et énergique pour des personnes de tous bords.

• Mahy Nambiar is a Sri-Lankan Tamil footballer. He was born in France to refugee parents fleeing the conflict in Sri Lanka. He was a member of the Tamil Eelam national football team, which represents the unrecognised state of Tamil Eelam, in Sri Lanka, competing at the CONIFA World Cup for Unrecognised States. At the age of three he moved to London. He played for various high-level academy teams including Watford and Whyteleafe. He made his performance debut in 2018 in Mercenary performing at the London International Festival of Theatre. He has been Klapping since 2018 and working his way up from the position of "Rezzie" to "First"*
