2017 was an eventful year for feminism. It began with mass demonstrations – the Women’s Marches – that one might have hoped were no longer necessary, and ended with the powerful #MeToo movement and the polarization to which it led. During the third edition of WoWmen! – in the week of International Women’s Day – Adichie’s words will be a beacon and leitmotif: feminism is the abolition of a dualistic society. This idea will come to the fore in conversations and debates – about #WeToo and ecofeminism, mansplaining and intersectionality – and performances that bring ambiguous identities to the stage.
