Theatre director Thomas Bellinck thinks the time is ripe to scrutinize digital migration management. Can one simply outsource unease about social sorting? Discussions with border and data managers in the control rooms of Project Europe were the starting point of this documentary musical.

Flood is a choreography of entrances and exits. In the midst of our throwaway society and the flood of new technologies and ideas, Daniel Linehan questions the cultural domination of the new. At the same time, he considers what is disappearing, and what is becoming superfluous at an ever-faster pace.

Fri 31.03 - Sat 01.04.17

Trajal Harrell explores a moment in dance history when female artists presented performances on the boundary between entertainment, erotic dancing, and early experiments in modern dance. CAEN AMOUR is structured as a hoochie coochie show. With a seductive performance, scantily dressed ‘hoochies’ lure you around to the backstage area, to reveal the festivities on the ‘coochie’ side.

In their first production, young theatre directors Renée Goethijn and Dries Gijsels immediately found their own voice. The duo takes you on a disquieting trip through a world of long raincoats, hidden cameras and curtains. What is the value of hidden things in this age of transparency?

Six performers and three musicians meet one another in a nightclub. Or is it an arena? In this unreliable, underground refuge, we hear thumping basses and playful jazz. UNTIL OUR HEARTS STOP was one of the absolute highlights of last season, and more than deserved its nomination for the Theaterfestival 2016.

EXTRA SHOW 5/12! - Pieter Ampe and Benjamin Verdonck bring a disruptive concertante of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. On stage, the seasons pass by, but the sequence is not always as it should be. The marvellous, endless epilogue that follows leaves you feeling orphaned and defenceless.

Four dancers become musicians onstage. They deftly – and with a great sense of humour – strip traditional Alpine music, group dances and rituals of their conventions and conservatism. After SunBengSitting, Simon Mayer is continuing his exploration of the nature of tradition.

Who is not familiar with this legend? Shakespeare made a tragedy of it and Mankiewicz turned it into a masterful, insanely expensive Hollywood film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. In his version, Tiago Rodrigues does not opt for the monumentality of the legend but goes for a refined distillation.

During the British occupation of Egypt, soldiers invade Nazlat al-Shobak. The villagers accuse the soldiers of gross misconduct and the matter is brought before a military court. Among the witnesses are twelve women who were raped. Zig Zig is a documentary theatre performance that takes the transcripts of these courageous witnesses as its starting point.
