In 1991 the American dancer Meg Stuart made her debut as a choreographer with Disfigure Study. From the very start this production - including the title - comprised all the elements of the dance idiom for which Stuart acquired international fame: the fragmented, contorted body placed in a setting that closely resembles art and performance.
Disfigure Study has been on the programme again since 2002, with a new cast and a new live music score by Hahn Rowe.

He derived this procedure from the surrealistic game in which a sentence is built up by each player writing a word on a piece of paper, folding it and passing it on to the next player.

In performances such as Just Before, I said I, Quartett and In Real Time, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and her sister Jolente (of Tg Stan) examine the relationship between language and movement. This also applies to Kassandra - speaking in twelve voices, which is danced to an English script written by Oscar van Woensel (see Dood Paard) for the seven female and five male dancers in Rosas. This new version of Kassandra comprises more dance material than in the first performance.
