Wed 01.02 - Sat 04.02.12

In Like Me More Like Me, formerly known by its working title H:H, Thomas Hauert collaborates with American performance artist Scott Heron, a familiar face from the New York avant-garde scene. Their encounter blithely rattles the opposition between uniqueness and
“two-ness,” centre and fringe, body and mind, reason and feeling.

Fri 20.01 - Sat 21.01.12

A man and a woman on stage. Are they chance passers-by or lovers? They fight, with themselves, with each other, with the finiteness of things, with eternity. Meg Stuart and Philipp Gehmacher let their artistic worlds merge. The Brussels singer-songwriter Niko Hafkenscheid, who joins them on stage, invites them to waltz to ballads and lullabies.

Fri 13.01 - Sat 14.01.12

Following the now h e r e quartet, Salva Sanchis has created a solo for himself. In it he is accompanied live by the pianist Yutaka Oya, who plays short compositions by György Ligeti, John Cage, Luciano Berio, Jo Kondo and Keiko Harada. Angle is about perception. What we see depends on how we look. Just as sound travels through space and only becomes music in our minds, so the dance invites our minds to dance.

Jan Decorte is writing a new chapter in his series of ‘compression’ of classical plays, called Niks of niks, a very loose adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘romantic’ comedy Much Ado About Nothing. This comedy on the inanity of human goings-on appeared to Decorte to be a logical sequel to his successful Wintervögelchen.

In One/Zero Benjamin Vandewalle and Erki De Vries again play on and upset the foundations of our perception. This time they focus on the way we experience time and movement and make a highly unusual montage of two bodies in a space. This choreography also unavoidably draws the audience experience into the performance.

Working Title Platform #3 - The first working phase of Monkey see, Monkey do will focus on the writing of a score that will investigate the primary actions which any confrontation with a mirror. Onstage, two characters, heterozygous twin sisters, will serve as prototypes to put into focus this experience. The double is here intended as "one". It will act in total symbiotic mimesis or, otherwise, it will melt in order to meet the other and will be capable of a sort of mutation-evolution.

Fri 16.12 - Sun 18.12.11

The audience sits on all three sides of an equilateral triangle. In the middle, six dancers circulate. The performance, which premiered at the Kaaitheater last season, is a brilliant piece of choreography on three-part paradigms from science, art and philosophy. A Dance for the Newest Age (the triangle piece) is focused on dance, insatiable and greedy. ‘Everything comes: bring it on!’
