The philosopher Vinciane Despret asks 26 intriguing and pertinent questions about what animals do, want and ‘think’. This yields marvellous and sometimes hilarious stories, told by scientists, animal-tamers, zookeepers, etc. Stories that make us think. We are screening two short documentaries made in 2005 by film-maker and activist Didier Demorcy, to which Vinciane Despret also contributed, one on sheep, one on wolves.

Filmmakers Olivia Rochette and Gerard-Jan Claes watched the world-famous Ballet de l'Opera National de Paris during the rehearsals and performances of Rain by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. A poetic documentary about searching, looking and doubts, in the sometimes claustrophobic setting of the opera house. The screening will be followed by an aftertalk with the filmmakers and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.

Argos presents a series of performances and choreographies on video and film that explore notions of movement, space and time within the urban make shift environment of New York City during the early 1970s. The protagonists of these works – from the dancer to the performer, from the camera to the city, from the passerby to the sparse audience – physically appropriate the public terrain of their daily surroundings through their presence as well as actions.
