CANCELLED: The Blue Piece
KANAL – Centre Pompidou
Fri 04.12 - Sun 06.12.20

Please note: this show has been cancelled to help contain the spread of the new coronavirus.

Advertising, film, magazines, the internet: we are constantly surrounded by images of sexualized bodies that display the intimate and the erogenous. Flesh, fluids, skin, breasts and asses belong to our everyday surroundings. The Blue Piece is a museum version of Mette Ingvartsen’s to come (2005), performed by two dancers at KANAL – Centre Pompidou.

CANCELLED: Ayur
KANAL – Centre Pompidou
Thu 29.10 - Sat 28.11.20

Please note: this show has been cancelled to help contain the spread of the new coronavirus.

Ayur is a dance solo, and the first part in a trilogy focusing on the semantics and mythologies of the Imazighen, the indigenous people of North Africa. Radouan Mriziga created this solo for Sondos Belhassen, who has been his dance teacher while he was living in Tunis. Performed in KANAL, with the nocturnal city behind a sheet of glass, Ayur carves out space for a new paradigm of reflections regarding the past – to arrive at a more inclusive future.

Fri 11.09 - Sun 13.09.20

Screws turns around the relationship between the body and the object in various ways. Different objects attached to the body either provide support or throw the body off balance. In this way gravity can be overcome or enhanced.

Sat 23.03.19

Ivo Dimchev is one name that cannot be missed from the Performatik programme: the exuberant performer has never missed a single edition. He often depends on audience participation to create his performances, such as P-Project (shown during Performatik13) and FB Theater. This time he is returning with his brand-new selfie concert. Take out your phone… because no selfies means no concert!

All around
KANAL – Centre Pompidou
Thu 21.03 - Fri 22.03.19

Drummer Will Guthrie and choreographer Mette Ingvartsen are performing together for the first time. You encircle the stage, on which a drum kit, a moving light installation and the bodies of the performers confront each other.

Léa Drouet

Boundary Games

Boundary Games
Boundary Games
KANAL – Centre Pompidou
Thu 21.03.19

Léa Drouet finds a spot in Kanal that she transforms into an area for play and experimentation for her six performers. Like a social laboratory, the piece tests the process involved in composing and disbanding groups. Infinite (re)arrangements of bodies and stage elements define new social rules like alternatives to the sole principles of inclusion and exclusion.

We get up and we go back to sleep every day: the two extremes that determine the primal unity of our lives. In this performance, River Lin questions sleep as an artificial force.

Fri 15.03 - Sun 17.03.19

Originally, Monumental was a film about monuments, statues and memorials in public spaces. Cottencin is now handing the performance on to a group of students from the ULB and La Cambre. How do you represent performance and time in the immovable space of collective memory?

performance

The Great Outdoors
The Great Outdoors
KANAL – Centre Pompidou
Thu 22.11 - Sun 25.11.18

Annie Dorsen takes you on a sublime journey through the digital infinity in the dark of an inflatable planetarium. A lone performer reads texts culled from comments on the internet. Gradually, fragments of narrative emerge from the online chatter. Settle down beside this digital campfire under a digital firmament, like a 21st-century explorer, searching for a new supernatural authority.
