PERFORMATIK2013 - In this dance performance the Austrian choreographer and dancer Philipp Gehmacher starts out from his own, ‘stuttering’, movement idiom as a way of examining the strengths and weaknesses of language together with the performer Jack Hauser. The utopian notion of language as an instrument for social cohesion versus the autonomy of language in the practice of art. What does language do to us, and what do we share when we speak the same language?

PERFORMATIK2013 - Visual artist Jimmy Robert and choreographer Maria Hassabi will present an extended version of their collaborative work, Counter-relief. Hassabi’s choreographic experience directs and experiments with various ways in which the body engages with the established formal elements from Robert’s previous iterations: a black and white 16mm film, a collection of wooden planks, and a non-linear abstract text. Following the performance, these elements remain precisely in the place they were left, revealing a movement-inscribed installation.

PERFORMATIK2013 - Choreographer Trajal Harrell and sculptor Sarah Sze experiment together, he with movement and she with materials. This tension between performers, materials and space is the essence of The Untitled Still Life Collection. The stage setting is not a 'backdrop' for the dance, but the sculptural and choreographic elements interact and transform one another.
