How do artists let the story they want to tell determine if their work will become a film, a sculpture, a painting, an installation, a choreography or performance? What negotiations take place when they appropriate different disciplinary specialisms? How do they play with their spatial and temporal parameters? What is the politics of indisciplinary practices?

It is not impossible to achieve a transition from a society that respects the limitations of the planet and offers everyone the possibility to develop their talents. But it is not easy. How can we effect a just transition in the current context of increasing polarization and inequality? Can we enhance social justice while also addressing the demands of ecological sustainability?

On 21/03, spring promises a new beginning, but also the anniversary of the attacks on Brussels. On the eve of the second anniversary of the Brussels bombings, we’re bringing together three experts on mourning. After Anders Breivik’s bloodbath in Norway, Jone Salomonsen founded a research group on new rituals as a reaction to attacks. Kristin Verellen – who lost her partner in the Brussels attacks – talks about her circle gatherings that aim to foster a culture of togetherness and dialogue. And architect Koen Van Synghel discusses (temporary) mourning monuments.

Is Brussels complex? Absolutely. Administratively, culturally, socially, economically, and demographically Brussels is anything but easy. But this complexity does not mean that you cannot understand or learn to understand Brussels. The sixth Night of Knowledge on Brussels will again explore this urban district and all its varied dimensions.

An impressive group of specialists will explore these questions in a programme with lectures, a debate and especially… lots of humour.

Her research into sexism in the Belgian dance sector developed into the anti-sexism campaign ENGAGEMENT. This evening will feature several artist-activists who are coming to talk about the steps that have been taken and the artistic strategies to tackle the abuse of power, discrimination, and inappropriate behaviour.

How much has the world changed since 1977? The demand for a new political 'account' to replace the neo-liberal 'accounting' is growing ever louder. The search for for a star to show us a new way is growing ever more urgent. RADIO ETOILE questions the power of artists and cultural centres in our current circumstances. Can they or should they lead the way? We've invited artists, thinkers, lecturers and journalists to reflect on this question in seven one-hour sessions.
