the fault lines
Two bodies. They attract each other, repel each other, manipulate each other, seek to approach one another again, seem to cover each other, sliding and grinding over each other, feel each other’s vulnerability, lick their wounds and start from the beginning again. The ‘fault lines’ are where they meet. The intense physical action becomes a strange video installation in a way that is both disturbing and fascinating.
• In the legendary MAYBE FOREVER, the American-Belgian choreographer Meg Stuart and her Austrian colleague Philipp Gehmacher have drawn a penetrating portrait of a love affair. Last season the production had its final performance at the Kaaitheater. For a research project for Sommerszene 08 (Salzburg) Stuart and Gehmacher worked together once again. They invited the Russian video artist Vladimir Miller to join them. The collaboration went so well that they developed it into a short performance, the fault lines, in 2010.
