A completely white painting

Serge, Marc and Yvan have been friends for fifteen years. Occasionally, Serge likes to spend money on modern art. Marc does not. Yvan isn’t sure. Serge buys a completely white painting for 30,000 euro. Marc thinks this is ridiculous and speaks his mind. Their ideas on what art should be and how much it should be allowed to cost are rather different. This jeopardises their relationship. Yvan is situated between the two parties, tries to repair the damage and in doing so causes some damage himself. Whether or not the friendship will survive is the question.

 • Kunst is a brilliant comedy and the best-known work by the writer Yasmina Reza. Kunst premiered in Paris in 1994 and has been performed all over the world. The total elimination of subsidies for culture in the Netherlands, the increasingly neoliberal discourse and the wave of economic cuts across Europe bring the play up to date once again. Kuno Bakker, Gillis Biesheuvel (Dood Paard) and Frank Vercruyssen (tg STAN) take hold of it and create a performance about the meaning and being of art.
