Art and movement in the landscape

Dancing in the sand. That is Dansand! In previous years (2008, 2010 & 2012) this dance festival has offered a lot of great stuff on and adjacent to the beach at Ostend: dance solos, group choreographies, duets with live music, performances, improvisations, workshops, happenings, etc.

For the fourth festival, Dansand! will be expanding inland, to the Green Ribbon, a new 35km route around Ostend that takes in a variety of landscapes: meadows, woods, creeks, polders, allotments, a sports ground, a bunker and other historical heritage sites. As part of the VRT’s Atelier De Stad project, artists will set up artistic walks, cycling routes and happenings that will enable you to discover the Green Ribbon. At the same time, the festival on the beach will continue. With a focus on artistic quality, participation, mobility and low impact, Expedition Dansand! will be a very special outdoor festival. A full documentary about it will be shown on the Canvas television channel in the autumn.
