Ivo Dimchev

Na zijn studies aan DasArts in Amsterdam, verhuisde de Bulgaarse performancekunstenaar Ivo Dimchev naar Brussel. Hij opende hier zijn Volksroom, een studio voor podium- en performancekunst. Zijn eigen creaties - zowel zijn vroege solo's als zijn werk voor de grote zaal - toonde hij in het Kaaitheater. Van 2013 tot 2016 is hij artist in residence in het Kaaitheater.

Ivo Dimchev /1976/ is a choreographer and performer from Bulgaria. His work is an extreme and colourful mixture of performance art, dance, theatre, music, drawings and photography.

Dimchev has created more than 30 performances. He has received numerous international awards for dance and theater and has presented his work all over Europe, South and North America.

Besides his artistic work Ivo Dimchev gives master classes in the National Theatre Academy of Budapest , the Royal Dance Conservatory of Antwerp, the Hochschule der Künste in Bern, DanceWeb in Vienna etc.

He is the founder and director of Humarts Foundation in Bulgaria and organises the yearly National Competition for Contemporary Choreography.

After graduating as a Master in the Performing Arts at DasArts academy in Amsterdam, Ivo Dimchev moved to Brussels where he opened and ran the performance space Volksroom, which presented international young artists.

From 2013 until 2017 Ivo Dimchev is an artist in residence at Kaaitheater. 

In 2014 he opened MOZEI in Sofia Bulgaria, an independent space focussing on contemporary art and music.
