Marianne Van Kerkhoven, Kaaitheater's dramaturge, has once again been awarded a prize for her essay-writing. In the Netherlands she was awarded the 2005 Pierre Bayle Prize for art criticism/theatre.

Tristero: komedrie (fin de saison)

Tristero, a Brussels theatre collective, has a solid reputation for lively and intelligent comedies at surprising locations. In 1996 they performed Alles voor de tuin in a townhouse with garden in Laken. This was followed in 2000 by Altijd ‘t zelfde in a café in Jette. And in 2004 there was Abigail’s Party in a space in the Kaaitheater that had been converted into a seventies flat. From late May to early July these three comedies will be on in Brussels again, thanks to a joint venture by Tristero, the Beursschouwburg, the KVS and Kaaitheater.

Het geheel van deze anekdotes kan het plein op een nieuwe en fascinerende manier beschrijven. Zag u hier ooit vreemde taferelen? Weet u wel iets te vertellen van horen zeggen? Laat het ons weten door te reageren op ons forum! Dat mag in uw eigen woorden, in om het even welke taal of vorm.

On Thursday 19th and Friday 20th October 2006 Jan Decorte and Sigrid Vinks will be performing their double production & and Burgaudine at STUK in Leuven. These pieces were created last season in association with the Kaaitheater. In both plays Decorte’s ‘pain of existence’ is rampant in a highly visual, archaically poetic language. On 6th February you can see dieu& les esprits vivants at the civic theatre in Leuven.

The new season is also in full flow in the workspaces at the Kaaitheater Studios.

Mette Edvardsen is there working on a new dance production about ‘being in the right place at the right time’. It opens in spring 2007. Poni, Christine De Smedt, Leslie Mannès, Kate McIntosh, ZOO, Feher & Kretzschmer, Philippe Beloul and Hooman Sharifi are also busy rehearsing. The première of Once Upon a Time, the new show by Christine De
Smedt and Les Ballets C. de la B., was scheduled on 3 October 2006 at
the Kaaitheater in Brussels.

Christine De Smedt, the artists
involved, Les Ballets C. de la B. and co-producer Kaaitheater have
decided in mutual agreement and for artistic reasons to stop working on
this production for the time being.

The performances at the
Kaaitheater, scheduled for 3, 4 and 5 October, will therefore be
cancelled. Later on will be decided whether work on the production will
be continued or not.

People who bought tickets for these
performances can change them for another performance or will be

Voorstelling in Het Theaterfestival afgelast

De voorstelling ‘Pakman’ door Theater Artemis van vrijdag 24 augustus om 17 uur is afgelast. Een van de acteurs heeft zijn arm gebroken. De voorstellingen van zaterdag 25 augustus, om 15:00 en om 20:30 uur, gaan wel door (met de arm in het gips).

Tickets kunnen omgeruild worden voor een andere voorstelling in het Theaterfestival.
