CAPSAICIN is that feeling you get when you have eaten a hot chilli pepper. It burns, stings, itches and screams through your body. Something that was first invisible and odourless is suddenly so intensely present that it feels as if it will never go away. The same is true of the pain of buried memories and unspoken longings. These create a pepper spray of thoughts.
CAPSAICIN could also be a place. A new Cape of Good Hope as a place of refuge, where you can finally say things as they are. Together with Globe Aroma and newcomers to Brussels, Michiel Soete deals with longings that refuse to be thwarted by powerlessness, anger or fear.
• The young theatre maker Michiel Soete lives and works in Brussels. A graduate of RITCS, he has already collaborated with Theater Antigone, Jozef Wouters and Nele Vereecken, amongst others. He uses a powerfully visual theatrical language to unravel dystopias. The socio-artistic workplace Globe Aroma enables people to learn about the richness of other people’s cultures and creates opportunities for refugees and newcomers with artistic abilities.
